IN FOND MEMORY OF BILL 'BADTANKER' WALLACE BORN JUNE 9, 1939 DIED MAY 3, 2004 Bill in Vietnam, 1969 Gen. BadTanker: W.E.Wallace was born June 9, 1939 in Kitalou Texas, outside of Lubbock. He was drafted into the US Army in 1966, where he trained as a tank unit member at Fort Meade, Maryland. In 1967. He was sent to Vietnam with the 1/11ACR Blackhorse Regiment Where he served 2 tours, earning two Valorous Unit Awards, three Republic of Vietnam Crosses of Gallantry, and the Presidential Unit Citation., until he was WIA at Tray Nihn.
In February 1971, 1st Squadron was inactivated and he retired from the army in 1972 with the rank of Sergant. Sgt.Wallace received the Purple heart, and a Unit Citation.
